O’Picado is a family run Portuguese restaurant serving dishes from the Madeira Island. The friendly family have now served Southend and surrounding areas for 10 years with each of the 10 family members having an important role to play in the success of this little gem.
The restaurant seats 25 inside and 50 outside with outdoor heating which is open all year!
Fatima grew up with the very same dishes that she serves today, the dishes served are in particular most traditionally associated with the Madeira Island. At 18 she began a career in catering, having taken up pretty much every position possible within the restaurant industry!
In 2004 the family opened up the restaurant under its original name of Meet and Eat Café. As their menu and large customer base grew bigger, the sweet café became a restaurant in 2006 under its present name of O’Picado.
The family pride themselves in staying true to the traditions of the Madeira Island, with many of the products, ingredients and spices having been imported from Madeira especially. It is thanks to their dedication to authenticity that many Portuguese guests have travelled to dine at O’Picado and comment on how the delicious dishes taste the same as back home. The recipe for O’Picado’s success comes from many years of hard work and dedication and from a family that put their heart into their restaurant.
We look forward to welcoming you and your guests.
